 What you will learn: 

You will develop your abilities to organize and supervise diving activities while focusing on learning the diving techniques. The PADI Assistant Instructor course consists of 2 modules.

What do I need to have to take part in my Assistant Instructor course in Thailand? Here are the different prerogatives.

​

The personal diving equipment you need:

​

  • You'll use the basic dive gear and a few diving accessories, like a cue card, a diving knife, a compass, a dive watch, etc.

  • Being familiar with your scuba equipment improves your general diving skills and it is strongly recommended that you own your dive gear. You'll find most materials from our Alain Barrat here in Phuket.

Teaching material needed for your training:

​

IDC Crewpak / PADI OWSI kit, included in our AI packages, contains all the necessary and mandatory materials to start the program. After booking and payment, you will receive your eLearning access to complete the PreAI Preparation Workshop. Everything else will be given to you upon your arrival.

Diver prerequisites:

​

  • 18 years old.

  • Certified diver for six months.

  • Certified Divemaster (or qualifying certification issued by another training organization).

  • Completed EFR Primary and Secondary Care training (or qualifying certification in CPR and First Aid issued by another training organization) within 24 months.

  • Bring all your certification cards to verify the preceding point.

  • Logged at least 60 dives before the course with documented experience in night diving, deep diving, and underwater navigation.

  • Bring your Log Book to verify the preceding point.

  • Medical clearance attesting to dive fitness signed by a physician within the previous 12 months

  • If not a PADI Divemaster, complete the Divemaster course's dive rescue assessment and submit documentation of qualifying certifications for entry levels, advanced, rescue, and leadership levels to PADI.

During the course, you will learn in-depth the activities that you are authorized to conduct.

​

What you can conduct and teach when you are certified:

All this will be possible after getting your certification, being in active status, and having received the authorization from PADI.

  • All Divemaster duties and…

  • Present the knowledge development elaboration for any PADI Diver course under the instructor’s indirect supervision. The instructor personally assesses student knowledge development.

  • Present initial skills training under the instructor’s direct supervision during confined water dives.

  • Conduct open water surface skill evaluations during Open Water Diver course dives under the instructor’s indirect supervision.

  • Teach and certify Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty Divers under the direction of an instructor.

  • Independently teach the Project AWARE (nondiving) Specialty course.

  • Independently teach the AWARE - Coral Reef Conservation (nondiving) Specialty course.

  • Independently conduct Bubblemaker programs

  • Independently conduct Discover Scuba Diving in a pool or confined water.

  • Independently conduct Seal Team AquaMissions.

  • Teach and certify divers in specialty courses that don’t include dives after completing Specialty Instructor Training courses with Alain in Thailand.

  • Teach and certify; after completing the corresponding instructor training and earning Specialty Instructor ratings.

  • The PAD Digitale Underwater Photographer (DUP), Under the direction of an Instructor.

  • Independently, the PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider Specialty.
